This was the Mirfield and Low Moor connecting the two places through the Spen Valley in West Yorkshire. It was opened in 1847-8 by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway mainly serving the busy textile industries. The line was closed to passengers in 1965 with the fright carrying on until the 1980s. At the Oakenshaw end the Greenway it is shown as on the OS maps as a bridleway for 0.8 miles some of which follows alongside the railway line and ending in an industrial estate in Kingsway Freeway. The Greenway continues southerly for 6.25 miles to near Scot Hill. The route then follows along the canal where equestrians are not currently permitted by the Canal Trust. The art is interesting along the Greenway and it certainly looks green!
