OLD RAILWAYS ON HORSEBACK
Silverhill and Teversal
Trail
Silverhill is an artificial hill which was originally a spoil heap from the Silverhill coal mine
which closed in 1990s. It was landscaped by Nottinghamshire Council in 2005. Now known
as Silver hill woods it has many multi user paths and links with the disused railway trails, the
Silverhill and Teversal Trail and link into other trails in the area under the banner of Phoenix
Greenways (See map link below) .
The railway lines used to service the mineral and coal mines in the area. Now its a fantastic
place to explore on horseback. Most of the ways are Tarmac free with firm ground under
foot. Starting from near Blackwell the track is about 5.75 miles long ending at Upper Pleasley
with a choice of diverting onto other railway trails in the area.
