OLD RAILWAYS ON HORSEBACK

Tissington Railway

This was the former Buxton to Ashbourne railway line, built as part of the North Western line, opened in 1899 and closed in 1967. It’s approximately 13miles long and is now part of the Pennine bridleway, meeting the High Peak trail just before Hartington. There is brilliant parking at Hartington Station as well as at the Ashbourne end
